Fitness Class Descriptions
Bike and Core
The first 20 minutes of class will be on a bike focusing on lower body. The remainder of class focuses on core strength training of upper body using balls and free weights, followed by a short cool down. Space is limited, so please register early.
Body Fit:
This hard-core workout program is designed for each individual, their problem areas, and goals. Fitness assessments are optional but let you know where you are, the progress you make, and when you achieve your goal. Participants must commit to the full session.
Cardio Core Intervals (CCI):
This interval-style class combines cardio, core, strength and agility for a full body workout. The class incorporates the use of balls, bosu, band, weights, and more. You will get your heart pumping and muscles burning.
Note: Two day-time and one evening session to choose from.
Osteo Workout:
This is an exercise and education program designed specifically for men/women with osteoporosis who are at risk for fractures. Certified instructors assist in increasing your fitness levels safely and effectively by improving posture/balance, building stronger muscles/bones, and decreasing the risk of falls or fractures. Suitable for osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, limited joint mobility, arthritis, etc.
WHY Yoga Classes
Bring your own yoga mat, strap, and blanket/towel. (yoga mats and straps are available for purchase at the WHY)
Gentle Touch Yoga
This class is for participants who find regular yoga classes to be a little too much. This is a non-intimidating class that includes yoga breathing, the use of chairs and modified poses while working on bringing greater mobility and flexibility to the joints. If you experience any stiffness associated with aging or injury, this class is for you! Each class will conclude with guided relaxation.
Kripalu Yoga
This is a gentle form of Hatha Yoga which uses inner focus, meditation, standard yoga poses, breath work, development of a quiet mind, and relaxation. This style will appeal to those who want to work on themselves to increase flexibility and strength. This is a great stress reliever and can benefit all. No previous yoga experience necessary.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues such as the ligaments, bones, and joints. Poses are held in longer duration which helps lengthen the tissues and increase range of motion over time. Suitable for all levels. Yin Yoga is mostly done in sitting or lying postures for promoting growth, enhancing circulation, and increasing flexibility. A gentle path but can be challenging.
